Check out the Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Database Collection. It's full of great articles about all things leisure related, but one of it's best features is the travel guides.
Let's say you're traveling to Paris this summer, but the hold list of the Fodor's Travel Guide at your local library is 10 people deep! No problem!
Just hop over to the Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Database Collection at http://find.galegroup.com/gtx/start.do?prodId=PPTH&userGroupName=burl15111 to do a quick publication search.
To do a publication search, first click on the 'Publication Search' link at the top of the page and then type in Fodor's Paris. You'll see a quick overview of the publication and then you can just follow the hyperlinks to the document. Volia! Paris at your fingertips!
And don't forget, if you are working from an HDSB computer you'll be taken right in, but if you'd like to use this database from home, be sure to have your school library barcode number with you so you can log in.

Welcome to Your Travel Summative!!
Welcome to your travel summative!
We’re finally here … our T&T summative! I wanted you to embark on a project that would be meaningful and interesting, and may even provide a pathway for you to plan a REAL trip in the very near future.
Scenario
As a budget traveler, you are planning your own independent trip (either solo or with a friend) to travel to your dream destination during the summer of 2010. You can be travelling anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months … the choice is yours. Many of you will venture to one country, while some of you will visit a few.
Many travellers keep their friends and family informed of their travels by creating their own travel blogs. This will be the format for our course summative (no more posters!) and the method by which I will evaluate your work. This blog is a little different because your theme will be a Trip Planner to include all of the information you’ll need to prepare for your adventure.
Consult your assignment sheet for instructions about how to create your own blog using blogger.com
Your assignment sheet also has the checklist of information you need to include in your blog.
Please remember to sign up as a follower to my blog so that I can check your daily progress. Any questions you have ... feel free to post them here.
Bon voyage ... good luck, and HAVE FUN!!!
